When I first met Jamie he taught me the world of yard saling (is that even a word). I’ve known plenty of people who love doing it every weekend and have even had luck in finding great treasures. I myself, hate shopping!! I laugh at that now…I own and online store, go and figure. Anyway, Jamie would drag me week after week to yard sales, and the first one or two of the day was fun, but after the tenth, I was ready to poke my eyes out. One day on my way to work there was a huge accident that brought traffic to a standstill. I was listening to the radio and heard about people selling on Amazon, making tons of money and never having to work form someone again. WELL….this sounded perfect. I said to Jamie that night (we were only dating about 6 or 7 months) “what are your thoughts about selling on Amazon?” Jamie of course said “let’s do it”, and me being me, registered our business name, filed for a tax id and sales certificate and jumped in with both feet that night. I figured if I have to go to yard sales I might as well turn a profit. We started selling books then moved to other items. We found when selling items in used condition you ran the risk of having the item returned, so after that happened a few times we realized we needed to change our strategy. I was still working full time and Jamie had his full time job so we didn’t have a lot of time to devote to the business, so at that point it was more of a hobby that definitely took up most weekends and evenings. We would go to stores to scour through the clearance section, take our findings home, log inventory and hope for sales. This went on until October 15th 2021. I resigned from my job and focused solely on the business. I knew Amazon could not be our only selling platform so I started doing research. I applied to become a seller on Walmart.com the first week of December and was accepted within a few days. We got ready for the Christmas rush and had a fantastic month. We were off to the races!!! I’m now at the point where I want to focus on the website and build our brand. I’m still trying to figure out my niche, but I think like any business it takes a while to figure out what works and what doesn’t. I really enjoy my business and I can’t wait to see what the future holds. This picture is of my ONE great yard sale find for only $30!!!
